The first step to fitting all your travel needs into one carry on bag is paring down the amount of clothes that you’re packing. And if you’re reading this article then I know deep down, that you want to pack less even if you’re afraid to start.
My biggest tip for packing less is packing with fewer colors. Look through your closet and see what color you already have the most of. What color clothing takes up the majority of your closet? What color shoes do you have the most of? Generally, we favor a few colors and tend to purchase them over and over. If you’re starting to see a pattern in your closet then use that to start packing. Monochromatic looks are not only chic, they are super easy to pack! If your closet tends to favor black, pull out all your black clothes and start creating outfits.
If you’re finding it’s not quite so simple as narrowing it down to one color, then stick to a simpler palette. Try all warm colors, all cool colors or all neutrals. As you get better at limiting your color choices, packing will become easier and lighter.
