I know it’s odd that I should pick now, a time of global crisis, to resume a blog focused on packing a bag for all types of travel. With the amount of travel I’ve been doing recently, it has left little time to actually blog about the packing process. But now, with so much important and pressing news centered around a worldwide issue, it can be hard to see past our present situation—it can be hard to think of a day when we will want to travel again.
We all have something that drives us and packing and travel is a true passion of mine. In times like these it’s difficult to compare your passion to the urgent needs of so many around the world right now. I am struggling with this a little bit myself—to find the reason why we need packing lists and travel guides right now. But then I really try to focus on what the true meaning of travel actually is.
The purpose of a travel is to learn and connect us all. It is to teach us that even though we are miles, states, or even continents apart, we are all very similar and to learn about another culture is to gain understanding and compassion for another person or people's walk through life. A trip forever changes our minds and hearts; you give a little piece of your home and way of life, in exchange for a new piece of culture and new lifestyle that you will cherish forever. Whether it’s mindfulness that you brought back from your trip to Thailand, a daily afternoon tea time that you brought back from England, or a peach cobbler recipe you brought back from Atlanta, GA—you have brought back intangible souvenirs that have changed you.
Remembering the beautiful reasons we become better because of travel is why I will continue (well, resume) to post great ideas for planning trips, travel inspiration, reminisce on a few of my favorite trips, dream trips and itineraries and of course, what to wear through (and to) it all.
We are all in this together, and soon enough we will all be out there, together again!
